To me, this film is up there with Ada Apa Dengan Cinta? It is such a great film I don’t get why it didn’t receive a lot of buzz. The writing, my goodness. It just hits all the right notes. The characters feel real, the plot and the conflicts make sense. You understand them. And most importantly, you root for them. You can tell that the effective editing plays a lot as well. It’s hands down one of the very few Indonesian films that I could thoroughly enjoy without getting distracted every five minutes by the lazy writing, unmotivated editing, incompetent directing, or general lack of care and thoughts put into it. Great casting too. Bless Lucky Kuswandi.

It knows itself. The film doesn't try to take itself too seriously and so it comes off as genuine. That's why Eiffel is, unlike many other teenage films taking place overseas, bearable. Great casting.

This is the kind of Indonesian comedy that I would write if I weren’t such a procrastinator with no self esteem. I think we all can agree on how good the script is. The local jokes are crisp. The references are... many, yes, but are so on point you can’t help but to giggle every time they come up. CTK is one of those rare films that manage to hit the sweet spot that satisfies both critics and audience. And I believe it is because it does not bang you in the head with its “message”—yep, I use quotation marks because yall know how much Indonesians love to base their review on it. The main characters are well written. Sure, they’re not the most complex characters. And the repeated establishing of the characters’ internal conflicts could feel a bit redundant. But you gotta give it a pass given the amount of characters featured in this movie. In the end, they are layered enough that audience can understand and, most importantly, care about them. The “message” of the story springs organically through them. It’s an ensemble piece and a character(s) study. And a damn entertaining one too.
