Top 20 Notorious Big Songs
Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls may have had one of the biggest feuds in hip-hop history, but things weren't always that way. When the rappers first met on the set of Poetic Justice in 1993, they immediately hit it off and forged a friendship. Shakur had already made a name for himself in the music industry, whereas Smalls was just getting started, so their relationship became more of 'a teacher-student' one. Shakur reportedly took Smalls under his wing, showing him the ropes and sharing his knowledge with Biggie. In fact, the two even recorded a song together.
In 1994, Shakur and Smalls recorded 'Runnin' From Tha Police' with rappers Stretch, Buju Banton, and Dramacydal for Shakur's Thug Life album. The track was later cut due to the heavy criticism gangsta rap was receiving at the time. The song was then set to appear in Shakur's 1995 Me Against the World album, but because of their falling out, it never did. The track was the only official studio collaboration between Shakur and Smalls.
Following Shakur and Smalls's deaths in September 1996 and March 1997, respectively, Eminem remixed the song for Shakur's Resurrection documentary in 2003. Eminem changed the name to 'Runnin' (Dying to Live),' and it made it on Billboard's Top 20, landing in the No. 19 spot. Sadly, Shakur and Smalls never got to celebrate its success.
